The journey
Overview
This is a tour of wildlife and wonders, from the widest cascade of water on earth, Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls, including a stay at the iconic eponymous hotel; to the pools, pans, and plains of Botswana’s Okavango Delta, and mahogany forests of Chobe National Park. This brilliant tour in Zimbabwe and Botswana is bookended by one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, the Victoria Falls, twice as wide and twice as deep as Niagara, where 600 million litres of water per-minute crash over the Zambezi cataract. From here we drive to Botswana’s Chobe National Park. Not the biggest but considered to be one of the best in Africa, the award-winning park, known as “the land of giants”, has the world’s largest population of elephants. The wild and wonderful Okavango Delta is the setting for the Dinare concession, at the edge of Moremi National Park. The first reserve in Africa to be established by local people, to preserve the wildlife in their ancestral lands, this paradise is visited by kingfishers, copper-tailed coucals, hornbills and hamerkops; its land-based animals including hippos and elephant herds, plains game and predatory big cats, and both Black and White rhino. Combining land-based game drives with ‘mokoro’ canoe safaris, and optional helicopter flights, the tour is a tale of two seasons, the lush landscapes of January to May, and the dry May to October, when animals gather at water resources in Chobe and the Delta.

Day by day
- Day1
Join tour in Victoria Falls+
Your tour starts in Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
Check into the 5-star Victoria Falls Hotel for our two-night stay. A member of the prestigious ‘Leading Hotels of the World’ and Zimbabwe’s grandest and oldest luxury hotel. Gazing out from its gardens is the spray cloud from the Zambezi River’s 110m high cataract forming the fantastic Victoria Falls.
Your Tour Guide will meet you in the hotel reception at 6pm for a welcome briefing. If you arrive later and miss this join time, they will catch you up at a later point.
- Day2
Enjoy a guided walk of the Falls and a sunset cruise+
This morning’s guided walk reveals the full splendour of Mosi-oa-Tunya, where torrents of water tumble 110 metres into a churning gorge. The constant mist creates a cool rainforest alive with birdsong, butterflies and the earthy scent of wet stone.Later, drift along the Zambezi River on a sunset cruise. The water turns molten gold, silhouettes of hippos bob in the shallows, and fish eagles call from riverside trees. A pre-bookable helicopter flight (12 mins) offers an extraordinary aerial view—an unforgettable perspective on the world’s largest sheet of falling water. (B)
- Day3
Travel to Kasane+

- Day4
Explore the park on a game drive and river cruise+
Begin with an early game drive, where morning light reveals impala, kudu, giraffe and zebra herds moving through forested clearings. Chobe is also a paradise for bird enthusiasts, with more than 450 recorded species—from fish eagles to carmine bee-eaters.In the afternoon, board a river cruise, gliding past bathing elephants, yawning hippos, and crocodiles warming themselves along the banks. Watching wildlife from water level offers a peaceful, intimate experience of the park. (B, L, D)
- Day5
Enjoy a game drive and an afternoon cruise+
Another early morning drive increases your chances of spotting predators: lions resting after a night’s hunt, wild dogs weaving through the bush, or leopards reclining in branches.
In the afternoon, return to the water for a second river cruise, when elephants often gather in family groups to drink, bathe and play at the shoreline. (B, L, D)
- Day6
Fly to the Okavango Delta+
Fly from Kasane to the Okavango Delta, where clear water channels link blue lagoons, cloaked with lilies, cutting through grassland and woodland, and punctuated with papyrus and palm islets. Enjoy a game drive enroute to the boutique Mma Dinare Lodge or Rra Dinare, within the private Dinare wildlife concession, adjacent to Moremi National Park. Afternoon game drive. Three-night stay.

- Day7
Enjoy a traditional canoe excursion and afternoon game drive+
This morning, step into a mokoro, the Delta’s traditional dugout canoe. Guided by a poler using a nkashi pole, you’ll drift silently through crystal-clear channels lined with lilies and papyrus. The quiet brings wildlife close—reed frogs, jacanas, and perhaps elephants cooling themselves at the water’s edge. (Land-based safari replaces mokoros if water levels are low.) An afternoon game drive explores wide-open plains alive with antelope, predators and abundant birdlife. (B, L, D)
