The Maldives holidays for teenagers
Older children love the Maldives if the resort has a house reef and watersports — snorkelling, diving courses, kayaks and jet skis fill the days. Look for resorts with a teen club or a big island to explore rather than a tiny one-loop island, and check the resort takes under-18s in all room types before you fall for an overwater villa.
Best time to visit The Maldives
November to April is the dry north-east monsoon — the classic Maldives weather, and the busiest and priciest. May to October brings shorter, heavier showers, dramatically lower prices and manta and whale-shark activity; it's excellent value if you can take a rain shower or two.
The Maldives airport transfers
Speedboat resorts near Malé are 20–60 minutes and operate at any hour. Seaplanes are daylight-only (roughly 06:00–15:30) and cost around £350–£600 per adult return, so a late arrival can mean an overnight in Malé. Domestic flight plus speedboat serves the far atolls. We always tell you the transfer type and cost up front, because it can add over £1,000 to a family booking.
The Maldives holiday prices
As a guide, 7 nights all-inclusive in a beach villa starts around £1,700–£2,300 per person including flights and transfers; overwater villas typically start around £2,600–£3,500 per person; and the top-tier resorts run £5,000+ per person. May–October dates and half-board-plus deals bring these down significantly.
7-night The Maldives holidays
Seven nights is the standard Maldives stay and the sweet spot: enough to justify the flight and get real value from all-inclusive. Many couples split it three nights beach villa, four nights overwater, or add a few nights in Dubai or Sri Lanka on the way home.
The Maldives holidays under £4,000
Very achievable. Plenty of excellent 4- and 5-star all-inclusive resorts on speedboat transfers come in under £4,000 for two people for a week including flights in shoulder season. We'll steer you away from the resorts where the seaplane wipes out the saving.
