Safari Holidays 2027

The Masai Mara, the Serengeti, the Great Migration and Kruger — a safari is the trip people talk about for the rest of their lives.

Kenya and Tanzania deliver the classic East African plains and the migration; South Africa adds malaria-free reserves, Cape Town and the winelands; Botswana and Zambia are the wilder, water-based alternatives.

Camp choice matters enormously — location inside the reserve, guiding quality and vehicle sharing all change the experience far more than the thread count. We know these camps and will match them to you.

Safari holidays — your questions answered

Best areas to stay in Safari

Masai Mara, Kenya — the highest big-cat density in Africa and the July–October migration crossings. Serengeti & Ngorongoro, Tanzania — vast plains, the calving season in February and the Crater. Kruger & Sabi Sands, South Africa — outstanding leopard sightings, easy to combine with Cape Town. Uganda & Rwanda — gorilla and chimp trekking — an entirely different kind of wildlife trip. Botswana (Okavango, Chobe) — water safaris by mokoro, low-density and exclusive.

Best Safari hotels for families

Our most-booked family hotels in Safari are Governors' Camp in the Masai Mara, Sanctuary Kichakani Serengeti Camp, Thornybush and Kapama in South Africa and Ol Pejeta's family-friendly Sweetwaters Serena. We match the hotel to your children's ages, tell you honestly which pools, kids' clubs and room types actually work for families, and can hold rooms while you decide.

Best all-inclusive hotels in Safari

For all-inclusive we recommend most safari camps are fully inclusive — meals, drinks, game drives and park fees, Governors' Camp Collection properties, Wilderness camps in Botswana and Zambia and beach-and-bush packages adding Zanzibar, Diani or the Cape. All-inclusive standards vary hugely — ask us and we'll tell you what's genuinely included (drinks brands, à la carte dining, snacks and sports) before you book.

Safari holidays from London

We package Safari holidays from London Heathrow and London Gatwick, with a choice of airlines, flight times and baggage options. Prices and availability change daily, so ask us for a live quote for your dates.

Safari holidays from Manchester

Yes — we regularly book Safari holidays from Manchester as well as London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Birmingham. Regional departures are often cheaper than London once you factor in parking and transfers to the airport, and we'll always price both for you.

Safari holidays for teenagers

Most camps take children from 8 or 12, and teenagers usually love it — walking safaris, bush breakfasts, night drives and photography. We'll check each camp's minimum age and whether a private vehicle is worth adding so you can set your own pace.

Best time to visit Safari

Kenya: July to October for the migration and river crossings, January to March for excellent all-round game viewing. Tanzania: June to October in the northern Serengeti, January to March for the calving. South Africa: May to September (dry winter) is best for Kruger, and the Cape is best from November to March.

Safari airport transfers

Safaris usually involve a light-aircraft hop — Nairobi to the Mara is 45 minutes, Arusha to the Serengeti 60–90 minutes, Johannesburg to Sabi Sands 60 minutes. Road transfers are possible but long. We arrange every internal flight and transfer as part of the package.

Safari holiday prices

As a guide, 7 nights combining a safari and a beach in Kenya or Tanzania from around £3,000–£4,500 per person with flights; a South African trip with Cape Town and Kruger from £2,500–£3,800 per person; premium Botswana camps from £6,000 per person.

7-night Safari holidays

Seven nights typically means three or four safari nights plus a city or beach. Ten to fourteen nights lets you combine two reserves, or safari plus Zanzibar, Diani or Cape Town — which is how most of our clients do it.

Safari holidays under £5,000

Yes — a first safari for two in Kenya or South Africa can be done well under £5,000 per couple in the green season, and we'll be straight with you about where cutting the budget would cost you the wildlife.
